A masking set for the glazing of a model of the AH-64D/E attack helicopter in 1:35 scale, in the double-sided form for the Takom kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The AH-64 Apache is an American attack helicopter with a two-man crew sitting in tandem. It carries its armament on stub wings at the sides of the fuselage, and some machines of the D version have a conspicuous spherical radar housing above the rotor head. The E version is a later and more capable stage of development of the same machine. The crew compartment is densely divided by frames, so it is the glazing that tends to be the most laborious part of painting a model.
Masking parts for the glazing of a model in 1:35 scale in the double-sided form, that is for the outer and the inner face of the windows. The set is built for the Takom kit; on another kit the shapes of the frames need not fit. The number of parts is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
First wash and degrease the glazing; a mask does not hold on a greasy surface. Lift the individual parts off the backing with the tip of a scalpel or with tweezers, lay them on the frame and press them down with a toothpick all the way round, above all in the corners. Stick the masks on before spraying and take them off only once the paint has dried, pulling them back over themselves rather than straight away from the surface. It pays to fit the inner masking before the glazing is seated in the fuselage; later you can no longer reach it.
The kit of the helicopter, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
