ARVN Rangers (Saigon 1968) is a set of four injection-molded plastic figures of South Vietnamese soldiers in 1:35 scale from Dragon. The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set holds four injection-molded plastic figures of South Vietnamese army soldiers in the uniforms and equipment used in an urban setting in 1968. The package includes weapons and personal equipment and a decal sheet with patches. It is not a vehicle model: the set serves to bring dioramas to life and to complete vehicles in 1:35 scale.
The figures are designed in dynamic poses suited to scenes in built-up areas: moving along a wall, taking cover and observing. The uniforms and equipment match those used by South Vietnamese units in the second half of the 1960s. Splitting them into torso, head, limbs and accessories allows small adjustments to their positions during assembly.
Remove the parts from the sprue carefully with sprue nippers and clean up the parting lines, above all on the faces and hands. Degrease the figures before painting and lay down a thin base coat that evens the surface out. Build the skin tones from a darker base toward lighter layers, and bring the uniforms to life with a wash and dry-brushing so that the folds of the fabric stand out. Apply the small patch decals over a slightly glossy surface and even everything out with a flat clear coat at the end. The figures look best set into a scene rather than standing on their own.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
