1:35 Austro - Hungarian infantryman set

A set of Austro-Hungarian infantrymen in 1:35 scale

The box marked in the name as a set belongs to the sub-range of Austro-Hungarian infantrymen that Black Dog also offers as separate figures. The castings are resin, unpainted and without a base, so the final appearance is determined only by the work of the brush. For a modeler planning a view with several figures a shared box is more convenient than assembling a collection piece by piece.

A group scene instead of a lone figure

A group of figures works differently in a view from a single soldier: a relationship arises between them, a direction of gaze and of movement, and the scene gains a story. Arrange the figures so that their attention converges on one point, at a map, at hardware or at something the viewer cannot see. The open space between the figures matters as much as the figures themselves, though, because it gives the eye somewhere to rest.

Recommended building procedure

First put the figures together dry and check how they fit in the intended position. Only then glue them permanently with cyanoacrylate glue. Spray the base coat on all of them at once and mix the shade of the uniform in one batch, so that the scene feels consistent and does not fall apart into inconsistent pieces. Prepare the base before you glue the figures on permanently, and then mask the gaps under the soles with soil or grass.

It suits

• building a coherent scene out of one box
• modelers who want the figures of the sub-range together
• dioramas from the time of the Danube monarchy
• collectors of Black Dog resin figures
