A turned metal barrel in 1:35 scale for a model of the Swedish LvKv 90C anti-aircraft vehicle. A turned barrel solves two things that injection-molded plastic cannot manage: it is genuinely straight and circular along its whole length, so there are no parting seams to sand off, and the muzzle is really drilled out, not just suggested by a dimple. On an anti-aircraft gun with a long, slender barrel that is a difference visible on the finished model at first glance. It is not a vehicle kit but a replacement for a single part.
The 40 mm Bofors automatic gun in the L/70 version was developed by the Swedish Bofors works in the second half of the 1940s as a successor to the wartime L/60 type. It has stayed in service around the world to this day and is used in ground emplacements as well as on ships and in vehicles. The LvKv 90C vehicle is the anti-aircraft version of the Swedish CV90 series infantry fighting vehicle, on which this gun is the main weapon. The L/70 designation means that the length of the barrel corresponds to seventy times the caliber.
Cut the plastic barrel off the model with a saw and level the mating surface, so that the metal part does not seat crookedly. Metal is not glued with cement for plastic; use super glue, that is, cyanoacrylate, or a two-part epoxy resin. Degrease the metal before painting and apply a primer, or the paint will not hold on the smooth surface and will rub off during handling. Keep the paint thin inside the muzzle so that the bore is not flooded.
The part is supplied unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
