This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:35 scale captures one of the least usual German tracked designs of the close of the Second World War. The model is meant to be glued and painted and is supplied unassembled. Please check the extent of the package, that is, the number of parts, decals and color schemes, against the contents of the box.
The Borgward IV was a German tracked carrier of a demolition charge, carried as a heavy device of the engineer type. The driver brought the vehicle close to the target, got out, and the machine was then controlled by radio; the charge on the front part was dropped and the vehicle was meant to return. At the very close of the war a limited series of conversions was built, on which a group of launch tubes for anti-armor rockets was mounted on the hull. The designation Wanze came into use for them. Their service was short and numerically insignificant, which makes the subject all the more interesting for modelers looking for an untypical theme outside the commonly built types.
Finish and paint the tracked chassis and the running gear before you close the hull; afterwards you will practically have no access to it. Glue the launch tubes right home and keep checking that they are parallel; asymmetry shows at once on a finished model. Use thin cement for plastic applied by capillary action; for thin parts a minimum is enough. After spraying the primer and the base color, bring the surface to life with a dark wash in the recesses and a dry brush on the edges, and finish the lower areas and the tracks with dust and mud pigments.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
