Yamamoto Model Parts AC Schnitzer Type II 18 is a set of modeling wheel rims in 1:24 scale with a design known from tuning conversions of BMW cars.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is an accessory, not a kit of a car. The set replaces the wheel rims from the base kit with a more faithfully executed Type II design, which the AC Schnitzer tuning program for BMW cars made famous. The number 18 in the name corresponds to the diameter of the rim in inches, and the same convention is used in this range for the other designs as well, so it lets you choose the size that suits your model.
Why change the rims
The wheels are the most conspicuous feature of a car model and at the same time the place where ordinary kits simplify the most. A multi-spoke design with fine edges cannot be molded in plastic pressed into a mold without compromises, whereas a specialized accessory manages thin spokes, a sharp transition to the rim and suggested bolts. Changing the wheels is therefore the intervention with the best ratio of effort to result: it transforms the look of the whole model without any need to touch the body.
First check dry whether the rims fit the tires and the hubs of your model, as with accessory wheels the diameter of the seating and the width often differ. Make any adjustments on the hub, not on the rim. Before painting, degrease the parts and spray them over with a thin coat of surfacer, so that the paint holds and the surface stays smooth. For silver and metallic shades the rule is that the pigment sinks to the bottom, so stir the paint thoroughly and apply it in several thin coats on a smooth base. Bring out details such as the bolts with a dark wash and wipe the excess away. Fit the rims at the end of the build, so that they are not scratched.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. The base kit, tires, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
