About product

Wheels for the Boxer GTF with the Michelin XML tread pattern, 1:35

A set of road wheels for a model of the eight-wheeled Boxer armored vehicle in the squad transport version. The name specifies the Michelin XML tread pattern of the tire and that is exactly what distinguishes the set from the otherwise identically named variant with a different type of tire. The PANZER ART marque offers both renditions alongside each other.

Why the tread pattern matters

Wheeled fighting vehicles carry different tires according to the task and the terrain and the tread pattern is clearly legible on a model. XML is a universal pattern with a tighter block design, which suits paved roads rather than heavy mud. When you are building a particular machine of a particular unit, this is a detail worth verifying against a photograph, because it really does differ between individual vehicles.

The real subject

The Boxer is a joint German-Dutch armored vehicle built on a modular principle: under a single drive module, interchangeable mission modules alternate according to the role. The version for transporting an infantry squad is the basic one. The vehicle is large and heavy, so the wheels belong among its most conspicuous features and they carry a substantial part of the impression of the whole model.

Painting and seating

Fit the wheels dry first and check that they all stand in the same plane; on an eight-wheeled chassis even a slight twist is told. Paint the discs in the shade of the vehicle, the rubber separately with a dark gray. The white or yellow marking on the sidewall of the tire tends to be well visible and it can be imitated with a thin stripe of paint. Strengthen the dust toward the edge of the wheel arch and leave the upper part of the tire lighter than the lower one.

Who the set is for

  • for builders of contemporary German and Dutch hardware
  • for those who want the correct tread pattern
  • for models meant for a scene with a paved roadway
  • as a counterpart to the variant with a different type of tire

FAQ

By the type of tread pattern of the tire. This rendition carries the XML design, while the other rendition has a different type of tire.

It is not. These are wheels for a model that you obtain separately.

It depends on the particular machine and unit. The surest thing is to compare the set with a photograph of the vehicle you are building.

Fit them dry on a flat base and check that they all touch the surface at the same time.
