The figure set 1:35 British Marines Falklands 1982 set from Black Dog belongs thematically to the South Atlantic campaign of 1982 and completes a scene with British hardware in the same scale.

A thematic Black Dog figure set focused on the Royal Marines units deployed in the South Atlantic in 1982. The 1:35 scale keeps the usual proportion against vehicles and artillery in the same scale, so the figures can be set beside the hardware without a distracting difference in size.
The battlefield was treeless, wind-swept country of peat bogs, stone runs and low ridges. British units covered most of the distance from the landing beaches to the capital on foot, with a full load on their backs and in constant sleet. The bulky winter kit that the subject of the set carries matches this setting, and it is worth respecting that on the base.
Build the terrain low and gently undulating: peat hags, a trodden ribbon of muddy path, scattered stones. It works best when the groundwork is darker and more matte than the figures, as they then stand out from the surface. A saturated dark tone into the folds and light brightening of the edges of the kit will give the clothing depth. Leave the footwear and the lower part of the trouser legs noticeably soiled, otherwise the scene looks artificially clean.
