This Star Decals set in 1:35 scale brings markings for British Sherman III tanks from the Italian campaign of 1943 and 1944. The name gives three units: the 46 RTR, the Royal Scots Greys and the 3rd or 4th CLY. The decals are an accessory to a finished model and they take care of the part of the work that decides which unit the built machine will belong to.
Sherman III was the British designation for the American M4A2, that is the version with two diesel engines. The British received it under the supply programs and deployed it in the Mediterranean too. The Italian campaign made different demands on tanks from the desert or North-West Europe: mountains, narrow roads and swollen rivers limited movement and the tanks often worked in small groups in direct support of the infantry. The abbreviation RTR stands for Royal Tank Regiment, the Royal Scots Greys was a traditional cavalry regiment converted to armor, and CLY denotes the County of London Yeomanry.
British vehicles in Italy are usually built in a single khaki shade, on which markings stand out well. Give the area under the decals a coat of gloss varnish and once it has dried even the surface out with a semi-matte or matte varnish.
