A figure of a British tank crewman from the fighting in Normandy in 1:35 scale. The designation No.1 distinguishes the individual figures within the manufacturer's range.
Responsibility details are not available.
The figure represents a British tank crewman from the period of the fighting in Normandy. Tank crews differed from infantry at a glance: they worked in a cramped space, so they wore different equipment and different headgear. Figures like this give a finished vehicle scale and a story, because it is only beside a person that you can see on a model how big the machine really was.
It is one figure in 1:35 scale, the most widespread scale for vehicle models. The designation No.1 serves to distinguish figures within the manufacturer's range; it is not the number of pieces in the package. The stance and the breakdown of the parts are shown in the manufacturer's instructions; use them to decide whether to seat the figure in a hatch or stand it beside the vehicle.
Cut the excess material and the traces of manufacture away with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the rest carefully, so that the shapes of the folds are not damaged. Wash and degrease the figure before painting, otherwise the paint will not hold on the surface. An undercoat works well, followed by the face and hands, and only then the uniform. Apply shadows and highlights in thin coats; on a figure of this size a smooth transition matters more than the amount of paint. Compare the patterns and shades of the equipment with period photographs, because they differed from unit to unit and from season to season.
A figure is supplied. The vehicle model, paints, glue and tools are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
