A set of replacement wheels for a model of the Russian eight-wheeled BTR-82A armored personnel carrier. This is not a kit of the vehicle, but an accessory with which the original wheels from the box are replaced on a model under construction. The PANZER ART marque has long specialized in this kind of goods.
On wheeled hardware the wheels form a substantial part of the silhouette and at the same time they are the place where the mold parting line shows most on production parts. The replacement brings a more legible tread pattern and a sharper rendering of the disc. It is told mainly from the side, that is, from the view from which a model is most often photographed and displayed.
The BTR-82A is a modernized version of the proven BTR-80 series. What distinguishes it from its predecessor is a new turret with a 30 mm automatic cannon, strengthened protection of the crew and a more powerful engine. The vehicle is amphibious, so the shape of the sides and of the wheel arches is subordinated to movement in water as well.
Never paint the tires pure black; a gray-black shade with a hint of brown looks more believable. Leave the sidewall of the tire darker than the tread, which lightens with wear. The discs tend to be in the same shade as the hull, so paint them together with the vehicle and finish the rubber only at the end. Dry pigment suits the tread excellently, and on a scene after a drive, dried mud heaped into the wheel arch.
