A set of decals in 1:35 scale from the Star Decals brand with the markings of Canadian Sherman tanks from the Korean War, 1:35 Canadian Shermans in the Korean War.
Responsibility details are not available.
A sheet of decals in 1:35 scale for models of the Canadian Sherman tanks deployed in Korea. It is not a kit or a set of parts but an accessory with markings, applied to a finished and painted model. It serves to give a vehicle a particular period identity instead of the decals from the box.
Canada sent an armored unit to the Korean theater armed with late production Shermans with HVSS sprung running gear and a 76 mm gun. The tanks did not work there in classic tank thrusts: in mountainous terrain they were repeatedly used as mobile fire support from prepared positions above the valleys and as a prop for the infantry in defending the heights. The Canadian vehicles were set apart from the American and British equipment in the same area by their own registration and tactical insignia.
A decal holds best on smooth gloss varnish. On a matte surface microscopic voids arise under the carrier film and a lightened frame appears around the design. The proven order is gloss varnish, decal, softener and, once it has dried, an overspray of matte varnish. Only then do the washes and the dust pigments come in turn, so that the markings fall in with the overall patina and do not look freshly stuck on.
The decals are supplied on their own. A model, paints and varnish are not included in the package.
