These replacement road wheels for the British main battle tank Chieftain by Pimp My Miniatures are fitted onto the suspension units between the drive sprocket and the idler wheel. The set is intended for modelers who are bothered on a production kit by a softly rendered flange or by mold marks around the circumference of the wheels, that is, in the places best visible once the model is finished.
The Chieftain entered British service in the second half of the 1960s and, against the competition of the day, bet on a different balance. It carried a massive 120 mm rifled gun with separated ammunition and very heavily sloped armor at the front. So that the hull could be low, the driver lay almost on his back while driving. Its weak point remained the multifuel engine, which kept a reputation for unreliability throughout the career of the machine. Besides the British army it served in large numbers in Iran, and further in Kuwait and Oman, and it saw combat above all in the war between Iran and Iraq.
Assemble and paint the running gear before the tracks close off the space between the wheels, because a brush will not reach into it afterwards. Set the rubber tires apart from the metal disc with a darker shade and only at the end add dust, which on British machines from a European training area tends to be gray-brown rather than desert.
Paints, fillers and your own model of the tank are not supplied with this set.
