Eduard 1:35 Waffen SS divisional insignia 1940-45: painting masks

A set of self-adhesive painting masks from the Czech manufacturer Eduard in kabuki paper (washi). It contains stencils for spraying the divisional insignia of Waffen SS formations of the period from 1940 to 1945 on a plastic model of military equipment in 1:35 scale. It is a modeling accessory for historically faithful painting that takes the place of decals.

The real subject

Divisional insignia were the symbols by which vehicles were marked as belonging to individual divisions. They served to tell equipment apart in the field and were usually placed where they were clearly visible on the vehicle. The set is intended for period-faithful markings on historical models; a sprayed version blends better with the surface and the weathering.

Use and tips

• Apply the stencil to the place where the divisional emblem is to appear.
• Press the edges down thoroughly so that paint cannot creep under the mask.
• Apply the paint in thin coats with an airbrush.
• Take the mask off before the paint has fully cured.
