It is an accessory for figures, not a kit: the helmet is fitted onto a figure's head in place of the part out of the box and a scene gains a different character at once. Cast resin holds sharper edges and a finer surface than injected plastic can manage at this size.
Fire helmets differ from military ones in shape as well as in purpose. The classic European patterns tend to have a reinforced crest over the crown and a nape visor, which protects the neck against falling debris and running water, and they tend to be executed in polished metal or in a conspicuous signal color. Check the particular national pattern and period on the packaging. It will find a use in scenes with rescue and firefighting vehicles, in city dioramas and in scenes from a rear area.
Wash the casting in lukewarm water with a detergent, so that no release agent from the mold stays on it. Cut the casting block off with a fine saw, level the contact surface with a file and sand it over wet with protection for your airways. If you are fitting the helmet in place of the original one, cut the plastic headgear off and sand the crown of the figure's head down level. It is glued with super glue; fill the seam with filler. Start the painting with a thin base coat; fire helmets stand out either in a metallic shade with a dark wash in the recesses, or in a saturated opaque color with a fine accentuation of the edges.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. The figure, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
