A set of three-dimensional colored decals from the manufacturer Quinta Studio intended for detailing the interior of a model of the Soviet GAZ-66 off-road truck in 1:35 scale. These are not photo-etch and not resin but printed raised parts on a backing decal paper with full-color printing, which are transferred wet like classic decals.
The GAZ-66 is a light 4x4 off-road truck which was used in the Soviet and East European armies from the 1960s. It was popular for its good cross-country performance and served as a troop carrier, a workshop and a chassis for bodies. Its simple cab and instrument panel are a rewarding subject for superdetailing.
First go over the interior surfaces with a gloss clear coat (Future, Klear, Tamiya X-22); the elements have no adhesive layer of their own and will not hold on a matte surface. Cut the part out, soak it for about fifteen seconds in lukewarm water and slide it off the paper into place; on a complex shape a drop of super glue helps. Do not use a decal softener, as it attacks the printed resin. The raised print imitates the instruments, the levers and the upholstery without laborious painting; press the edges down with a cotton swab and work with pointed tweezers.
The set contains interior decals only. The model itself, glue and paints are not included in the package.
