The set holds sixteen turned metal barrels for the 37 mm SK C/30 anti-aircraft gun with an L/83 barrel, intended for models of German warships in 1:400 scale. It is not a model of a ship but a detail accessory with which you replace the plastic barrels from the original kit. Turned metal holds the slender profile of the barrel and the correct ratio of length to caliber, which injection-molded plastic practically cannot manage in a scale this small, and on top of that the seam from the mold is gone.
The 37 mm SK C/30 gun was the backbone of the medium anti-aircraft defense of the Kriegsmarine from the 1930s. It was a semi-automatic weapon loaded round by round, most often mounted in stabilized twin carriages. Battleships, cruisers, destroyers and smaller units all carried it, so the set will find a use on most German ship models of the Second World War period. A high muzzle velocity went hand in hand with a low practical rate of fire, which crews later often complained about.
Cut off the plastic barrels as close to the carriage as possible and carefully drill the hole left behind to the diameter of the pin on the metal part. Degrease the metal with alcohol before gluing and roughen the mating surface slightly, then glue it with cyanoacrylate glue in small drops. In 1:400 scale the parts are very small, so tweezers, a light-colored mat and working over a box all pay off, so that a barrel does not get lost. Paint only once a base coat intended for metal is down, otherwise the paint will not hold on the smooth surface.
This is a detail accessory for your own model, not a complete kit of a ship. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package.
