Thunder Model Gedeckter Güterwagen Gr 15t is a plastic kit of the German covered freight car of the Second World War period in 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit from Thunder Model represents the German covered freight car of the Gedeckter Güterwagen Gr 15t type. It is not a vehicle and not a locomotive but the freight car itself, ideal as part of a railroad and military diorama. The model boasts a faithfully rendered underframe and brake system, a fine imitation of the wooden structure and sliding doors that can be built in any position. A photo-etched fret and several marking options are enclosed as well.
Covered freight cars of this type were built by the German state railway (Reichsbahn) in enormous numbers from the 1920s and served to carry goods, materiel and animals. During the Second World War they became an inseparable part of military transports heading for the front, loaded with supplies, equipment and soldiers. Thanks to the wooden body on a steel frame they are a typical and easily recognized feature of the railroad stations and junctions of the period.
Glue the car with liquid modeling cement for plastic and clean the joints carefully. The engraved wooden structure is superbly brought out by a dark wash and by drybrushing, which draws out the grain and the edges of the planks. Treat the metal fittings, the hinges and the brake gear of the underframe with rust and pigments; dust and mud at the running gear give the model credibility. Consider whether to leave the doors open and suggest a load inside. Apply a primer before painting and spray the large surfaces with an airbrush.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
