A decal sheet in 1:48 scale for models of the Bell AH-1W attack helicopter, which after the letter in its version is nicknamed the Whiskey Cobra. The sheet is intended for machines of the United States Marine Corps. Which particular helicopters and which schemes are worked up is given by the manufacturer on the packaging, so compare it before building with your model.
The AH-1W is a twin-engined attack helicopter with a very narrow fuselage and the places of the pilot and the operator arranged in tandem. Against the older single-engined versions of the Cobra family it brought higher performance and better safety on the failure of one engine, which is essential for operation over the sea and from the decks of ships. Short stub wings serve to carry armament and reconnaissance equipment, and under the nose there is a movable gun turret. The finishes are sober, usually in darker matte shades with low-contrast markings.
On a saturated dark base it shows how well a decal covers. Light markings and numbers may show through the dark paint, so it is advisable to apply them in two steps, that is to lay a second piece of the same decal exactly on top once the first has dried, if the sheet allows it. A base of gloss varnish also helps, as it optically deepens the color under the film. Low-contrast gray markings, on the other hand, must not be overlightened, so avoid a heavy matte varnish, which would fog the fine printing.
This is a standalone decal sheet. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
