German manhole covers in 1:35 scale are three resin covers from the Spalah brand with relief detail for paved streets.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of three covers of German pattern in 1:35 scale. The Ukrainian maker Spalah prints them from resin with the relief of the cover and of the curb frame picked out. The cover lies level with the paving, so only the top surface will be seen, and that is precisely why it has to be legible down to the last raised detail.
Covers of the German type belong in scenes from European towns, whether from the period of the Second World War or from a street of today. Three pieces allow you to distribute them over a longer stretch of roadway, to mark the entrance to a yard or to complete the sidewalk in front of a house. Choose irregular spacings; a row of evenly spaced covers gives away that someone laid them out with a ruler. One cover can quite well be left partly hidden under rubble or a deposit of earth.
Cast iron is best captured by a dark steel gray completed with shades of rust, which you should lay on in patches, not in a continuous coat. Bring out the relief with a thin shade that runs into the engraved pattern, and then carefully go over the ridges of the detail with a brush holding a minimum of paint. Fill the gap around the frame with dust pigment, so that the cover looks set in rather than laid on the surface.
For finishing you will need glue and paints of your own.
