About product

Aber 1:35 detail set for the Tiger I Ausf. E, early version

A complete detail set from the Polish manufacturer Aber intended for the overall refinement of a model of the German heavy tank Pz. Kpfw. VI Tiger I Ausf. E in its early production version. Sets of this type hold an extensive collection of photo-etched metal parts for the fenders, the tool brackets, the covers and grilles of the engine compartment, the clasps, the hinges and other small fittings of the hull and the turret. This is not a kit of a tank; it is an accessory that is fitted to a plastic model in 1:35 scale you have already bought.

The real subject

The Tiger I Ausf. E was a German heavy tank in action from 1942, armed with an 88 mm gun and protected by heavy vertical armor. Early production pieces differed from later ones in a number of details: the form of the commander's cupola, the arrangement of the tools and brackets on the hull, the dampers and covers on the fenders, and details of the exhausts. It is precisely these small things that make the difference on a model between a generic Tiger and one particular version faithfully captured.

Building and painting tips

Work block by block according to the instructions and do not rush: first remove the plastic originals, level the surfaces, and only then glue the metal on. Separate the parts with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface and make the bends in a bending tool. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) onto degreased metal, holding small parts with tweezers. Once finished, spray the whole model with a primer so that the paint holds equally on plastic and on metal. The tools and the clasps stand out after a dark wash.

Who the set is for

  • Advanced modelers building an early version Tiger I Ausf. E
  • Builders who want to take a model up to competition standard
  • Enthusiasts of German armored vehicles of the Second World War
  • Modelers with experience of extensive photo-etched sets

The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. It is a detail accessory for a plastic kit, not a model in its own right. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.

FAQ

No. This is a detail set of photo-etched metal parts that you fit to a plastic kit in 1:35 scale you have already bought.

Extensive photo-etched sets are demanding on both patience and tools. We recommend them only after some experience with smaller photo-etched accessories.

A sharp scalpel, tweezers, a hard surface, cyanoacrylate glue and, best of all, a photo-etch bending tool. A primer is a must before painting.
