A resin set of figures in 1:35 from the PANZER ART brand. It differs from calm crews in hatches in what the figures are doing: they are away from the vehicle and carry hand weapons. For a diorama that means a different composition — the figures are moving, the body is leaning back or forward and the scene has direction.
Figures in motion have fabric stretched across the shoulders and the back and folds bunched at the waist and behind the knee. That is the opposite of a static standing figure, and when painting it pays to emphasize it: lighten the stretched places more markedly and let the bunched folds fall into deep shadow instead. The contrast between the two positions is what gives the sense of movement. Crew clothing has a short, close cut, to which field accessories and load-carrying equipment were added in this period — separate their straps by material, as leather and webbing are painted differently from the fabric of the clothing. Handle the hand weapons separately: the wood with a warm brown base and a thin glaze, the metal with dark steel and careful polishing of the edges.
Washing in lukewarm water with dish soap first. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a disc, and at thin parts such as an arm with a weapon proceed especially carefully — resin cracks in those places. Sanding wet with breathing protection, gluing with cyanoacrylate glue, the gaps filled and sanded. For dark fabric use a dark gray primer and build the color from a dark gray base to lightened edges; leave pure black only for the deepest recesses. Keep the skin lighter and warmer, so that it stands out against the dark fabric. At the end a matte clear coat and dust with pigment on the footwear and the bottoms of the trouser legs, so that the figures belong to the ground they stand on.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
