The decals Weikert Decals 1:35 German Units Armbands WWII - part 1 are intended for the armbands of figures of German units from the period of the Second World War in 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The first part of a series of decals for figures in 1:35 scale. The sheet contains designs of armbands, an item of kit that was worn on the sleeve of the uniform and that is exceptionally hard to paint at a modeling scale. It is an accessory for figures and dioramas, not a model in its own right.
An armband is a narrow strip with lettering or an emblem. In 1:35 scale its width works out at less than a millimeter, so hand painting means either a smeared shape or noticeably exaggerated dimensions. A printed decal keeps both the proportions and the sharpness, and once it settles properly into the folds of the sleeve it is indistinguishable from a painted element. On top of that, the modeler saves time that can go into the face and the shading of the uniform.
Paint the figure, let it dry out and go over the sleeve with gloss varnish. Cut the decal out as close as possible, soak it for a few seconds in lukewarm water and let it rest. Transfer the film with tweezers and guide it into place with a damp brush. There is always some rippling on a sleeve, so use a softener and, if need be, prick the film gently with a needle so that it drops into the groove. Draw the excess water off and, once dry, go over the figure with a matte varnish; only then will the cloth look like cloth.
It is a decal sheet, not figures. Figures, paints, glue and varnish are not part of the package, unless stated otherwise.
