A set for the British shipboard anti-aircraft systems GWS-30 Sea Dart and GWS-25 Sea Wolf in 1:35 scale. The parts are meant to be assembled and painted.
Responsibility details are not available.
Sea Dart and Sea Wolf were two British shipboard anti-aircraft systems that complemented each other in the Royal Navy. Sea Dart, under the designation GWS-30, provided defense at greater range and was carried by the Type 42 destroyers. Sea Wolf, under the designation GWS-25, on the contrary covered a ship and its surroundings close in as the last link of the defense and belonged to the armament of the Type 22 frigates. The abbreviation GWS stands for a guided weapon system as a whole, that is not only for the missile itself but for the launcher and the guidance as well.
The set captures both systems side by side in 1:35 scale, that is in a form where the shape of the missiles and the division of the launcher are both visible. The parts are supplied unassembled and unpainted. The extent of the parts, the number of pieces and the choice of marking options are in the manufacturer's instructions.
Free the parts of excess material and of the marks left by manufacture, sand the mating faces and try the assembly dry before any glue is laid on. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts and according to the maker's directions and dose it sparingly. Set the slender missiles and thin beams down so that they do not bow. Wash and degrease the surface before painting; with naval subjects a restrained bringing out of the edges and fine weathering look true, because the armament was always in sight of the crew and of the sea.
Collectors of naval subjects will appreciate it, as will modelers who build individual weapon systems as display-case pieces on their own. Paints, thinner, glue and tools are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
