It is an accessory for figures, not a kit: the helmet is fitted onto a figure's head in place of the part out of the box or onto a head from another set of accessories. Cast resin holds a thinner edge to the shell than injected plastic, which with this shape is precisely what decides.
The paratrooper helmet of the 1938 pattern came about by modifying the infantry type for the needs of the airborne troops. The shell is shortened and has neither a drawn-out front nor a nape visor, so that it does not catch during a jump; an inner liner of its own and a four-point chin strap, which holds the helmet on the head substantially more firmly than an ordinary simple strap, go with it. It was used from the end of the 1930s and is an unmistakable mark of the German airborne troops of the Second World War, so on a figure it pins down exactly which branch of service a scene is about. The head and the helmet therefore match the equipment of that time.
Wash the casting in lukewarm water with a detergent, so that no release agent from the mold stays on it. Cut the casting block off with a fine saw, level the contact surface with a file and sand it over wet with protection for your airways. Cut the original helmet off the figure and sand the crown of the head down level, glue the new part on with super glue and even the seam out with filler. Start the painting with a thin base coat; the smooth shell will take a fine transition of shades and a light wash around the circumference, which accentuates the edge and the attachment of the chin strap.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. The figure, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
