A diorama feature capturing the corner of a masonry building in 1:35 scale. It is not a model of a vehicle but an architectural fragment of a scene, which takes up less room than a whole building and yet gives a diorama an urban character. The set consists of accurately cast plaster parts (a harder ceramic version in the newer editions) complemented by laser-cut features.
A corner fragment suits the edge of a base or the corner of a scene beautifully, where it suggests that the buildings continue. It combines two walls meeting at a corner, which lets you compose vehicles and figures effectively along a street and use damage for a dramatic tableau.
Plaster is easy to work and, being absorbent, takes acrylic paints, washes and pigments excellently. The parts are glued with PVA or super glue, the laser-cut parts with wood glue. The castings are brittle, so handle them with care; cracks can be filled and sanded down. Prime the surface before painting.
