A diorama building element in 1:35 scale from the brand GINGER CAT. The package holds sixteen square paving slabs out of which a sidewalk, an approach in front of a building, a small yard or any other hard-surfaced area is put together. Unlike a printed mat the slabs have a real thickness, so real joints arise between them and the edge of a sidewalk has a profile which can be brought out by a shadow.

Building and painting tips

Separate the parts from the sprue gates, level the undersides so that the slabs lie flat, and do the sanding with your airways protected. You can lay them tight together or with more pronounced joints filled with fine sand or with modeling compound. Begin the painting with a gray base, then set each slab slightly apart in tone; a uniform area looks artificial. A dark wash into the joints gives the surface depth and a dry brush brings out the edges and the knocked-about corners. Anyone who wants to call up the impression of a neglected street adds a little dry grass into the joints and dust pigment along the margins.
