Artwox Model 1:350 USS Ticonderoga CV-14 is a wooden veneer deck with pre-printed plank laying and an adhesive backing that is glued onto the plastic flight deck of the Trumpeter 05609 kit.

This is not a model of an aircraft carrier but an aftermarket accessory for a plastic kit. The package contains a thin veneer of real wood printed with the laying of the deck planks and with an adhesive layer on the back. The parts are cut to the shape of the Trumpeter 05609 kit, so please check before you buy that you are building exactly that model.
An aircraft carrier has the longest continuous wooden surface of all ship models, and that is exactly why it is the most sensitive to how the deck is laid. If the veneer is laid even slightly askew at the bow, the deviation multiplies along the whole length and by the stern it has become an error you can no longer correct. The proven procedure is to find the centerline, lay the veneer dry first, check that the seams between the planks run parallel with the centerline, and only then glue, from the middle toward both ends and from the centerline out to the sides. The air is driven out with your thumb or a soft cloth toward the edge, never by pressing toward the middle.
Sand the plastic deck with fine paper in advance so that unevenness and mold marks disappear, and degrease it. Take the protective film off the back in sections, not all at once. The finished veneer can be left in its natural tone or lightly unified with thinned wood stain. The recessed seams then only need bringing out with a very thin dark wash, which runs into the grooves by itself. Finally the surface is protected with a thin coat of matte varnish.
The accessory is supplied separately. The kit, paints, varnish and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
