This separate resin figure in 1:35 scale depicts an officer of an armored car crew in a coat with fur trim. It is not a vehicle kit but an accessory that is added to a finished model or to a diorama. The main theme of the casting is the heavy coat: fur has a different surface texture from smooth cloth, which gives room when painting to work with texture and with the contrast of materials. In 1:35 scale a standing figure measures around five centimeters, so it matches the ordinary vehicle models of that scale.
The casting comes with casting blocks that have to be cut off with a saw or a scalpel, and with fine parting seams from the mold. Pass a blade held flat along the seams and polish them with a sanding sponge; on the fur section work carefully, so that the surface texture is not rubbed away. Wash the parts in lukewarm water with dish soap before building, so that the remains of mold release agent disappear. It is bonded with cyanoacrylate glue, and small gaps at the shoulders or the neck should be filled with putty. Sand resin wet and with respiratory protection.
Once a thin primer is on, the figure is painted from a darker base toward lightened areas. Fur looks best when a dark glaze is run into it and the tips of the hairs are carefully lightened with a dry brush. The smooth cloth of the coat, by contrast, will take softer transitions, which oil paints or thinned acrylic glazes handle well. We recommend building the face up separately in several thin coats, while the figure is not yet joined to a base, because access to it is best then. The metal fittings and buttons are picked out at the very end.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
