A photo-etched detail set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard intended for models of the German Kübelwagen in 1:35 scale. It is not a vehicle kit but a set of fine parts in thin sheet that replaces and complements the simplified plastic elements with more accurate photo-etched parts. The aim is to lift the detail of a finished model to a level that cannot be reached in plastic.
The Kübelwagen (Volkswagen Type 82) was a light German off-road car of the Second World War derived from the civilian Volkswagen. It was powered by an air-cooled four-cylinder engine mounted at the rear, and thanks to its low weight it coped with difficult terrain even with drive to one axle only. It served on every front as a liaison, reconnaissance and staff vehicle.
Photo-etched parts are cut or trimmed from the fret with a sharp knife, shaped with a bending tool or against a ruler and glued with super glue (cyanoacrylate). The sheet is brass, so it holds sharp edges and fine embossing. The set is intended for more advanced modelers with experience of photo-etched parts; before varnishing we recommend degreasing the parts and spraying them with a base color.
This is an accessory for a plastic kit, which the set does not replace. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
