1:35 LAV300 90mm Cockerill Gun is a plastic kit of a wheeled armored vehicle with a turret armed with a 90 mm gun, released by Hobby Boss.
Responsibility details are not available.
The kit captures a six-wheeled armored vehicle in the fire support version, that is with a turret carrying a 90 mm gun of Belgian design. Hobby Boss has made the hull with slide molds, so the sides have no needless seams. Alongside the plastic parts come photo-etched sheet, rubber tires and copper wire for the tow cable. The number of parts matches an ordinary kit for a more advanced builder.
The vehicle comes from a family of American wheeled armored vehicles designed by Cadillac Gage. It is amphibious, has a six-wheeled chassis and, besides a crew of three, can take several more soldiers in the rear compartment. The version with the 90 mm gun served as a fire support vehicle, among others with the Philippine Marine Corps, which acquired this configuration in the 1990s. The combination of a wheeled chassis and a fairly heavy barrel makes it an unusual subject.
Wash the rubber tires before gluing off the stubs and painting, because their surface tends to carry a greasy film. Assemble the chassis and the suspension on a flat surface so that all six wheels sit down, and check the deflection before the glue sets. Once the copper wire is run, bend it slightly and anchor it so that it looks as if it hangs under its own weight. Pick the gun out with a dark shade at the muzzle and polish the barrel gently with graphite, which gives it a metallic cast without a glossy varnish.
The armored vehicle is unassembled and unpainted; you will not find glue or paints in the box.
