The M109A3 is a shop van of the US Army built on the chassis of a medium truck with a 2.5 ton payload and with all three axles driven in a 6x6 arrangement. In place of an open cargo bed it carries an enclosed box body with windows and rear doors, which housed a mobile workshop or a signal or measuring station. Vehicles of this type belonged to the rear units, where they looked after repairs to equipment directly in the field. Beware of the coincidence of designations: the same letter and number designation is also carried by a self-propelled howitzer, but that has nothing to do with this vehicle.
It is a kit in 1:35 scale, that is in the most widespread size for military hardware, so the model can be completed with figures and scenic accessories of the same scale. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted, and the extent of the parts and the marking options are given in the instructions enclosed by the manufacturer.
Before gluing, remove the surplus material and the traces of manufacture from the parts and try the assembly dry, especially on the box body, where several large surfaces come together. The large side panel is rewarding to shade: apply the base color in several thin layers and only then work with dust, mud and chipping around the doors and the steps. A shop van comes out well in a scene with the doors open, tools and figures.
Paints, glue, putty and add-on sets are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
