About product

M60A2 Patton 1:35 (Academy)

An injection-molded plastic kit of the American M60A2 main battle tank in 1:35 scale from Academy. The model captures the characteristic low-profile turret with the 152 mm weapon system that could also launch guided missiles. The package holds plastic parts, clear parts for the vision ports and lights, the option of individual track links and decals for American markings.

The real subject

The M60A2 was a variant of the American M60 tank with a newly designed low turret fitted with a 152 mm weapon that launched both conventional rounds and Shillelagh anti-tank guided missiles. Its advanced and, at the time, unusual engineering earned it the nickname Starship. It was in service during the Cold War until more modern M60 versions replaced it.

Building and painting tips

Assemble and paint the running gear and the tracks separately before fitting them to the hull. An airbrush suits either the single-color olive or the Cold War MERDC camouflage; complete the wear with edge rubbing, washes and dust pigments on the underside and the running gear.

Who the model is for

  • Collectors of American Cold War equipment
  • Fans of the M60 Patton tank family
  • Modelers interested in unusual weapon solutions
  • Builders of dioramas from the 1960s and 1970s

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
