The item from the brand PANZER ART contains an exchange barrel together with the characteristic thermal sleeve, as the machines of the late development series carried it. The kit of the tank itself is not included and you have to have it to hand. On plastic parts the sleeve tends to be shaped only roughly, and it is precisely its division that is among the things everyone notices on a finished model.
The cover around the barrel levels out the differences in temperature between the sunlit and the shaded side. Without it the barrel bends by fractions of a degree and the accuracy of fire at long range suffers noticeably by it. On American equipment sleeves spread during the 1970s and became an immediately conspicuous recognition feature of the later versions.
The M60A3 represented the last large modernization of the American tank M60. It received a laser rangefinder, an electronic ballistic computer and precisely the sleeve mentioned. The main weapon remained a rifled gun of 105 millimeters caliber with the designation M68, which served in western armament in a great number of machines. It was precisely the combination of the preserved outline and new electronics that gave the machine further years of service, before a newer generation gradually replaced it.
