An accessory set in 1:35 for the German Marder II tank destroyer, Sd.Kfz. 131. An accessory for a model of the vehicle, not a model on its own.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not a model of the vehicle on its own but an accessory set for a model of the German Marder II tank destroyer in the Sd.Kfz. 131 version. It is exactly on vehicles with an open fighting superstructure that accessories make the most sense: the compartment is visible from above, so the kit, the supplies and the crew's personal belongings decide whether a model looks lived in or empty. The 1:35 scale is standard for ground vehicles.
The Marder II was an improvised but exceptionally useful tank destroyer that came about by mounting a 75 mm anti-tank gun on the chassis of the Pz.Kpfw. II light tank in the Ausf. F version. The German army introduced it in 1942, when it urgently needed a mobile weapon able to destroy the Soviet T-34 and KV tanks. The superstructure stayed open at the top and the rear and the crew was protected only by a thin shield, so the vehicle was vulnerable to splinters and to infantry fire. In exchange it had a very powerful gun and decent mobility. It served above all on the Eastern Front and in smaller numbers in North Africa as well, where it replaced more cumbersome towed anti-tank guns.
Paint from the inside out: the inside of the superstructure and the fighting compartment while they are accessible, and only then the outside. Shade the accessories separately, with the textiles and the canvas in a warmer tone than the metal. A dark wash into the gaps, a fine dry brush on the edges and dust in the recesses will give the whole thing depth. An open superstructure will take more detail than a closed hull and pays off in photographs.
