Maschinen Krieger, formerly known under the abbreviation SF3D, is the visual world of the Japanese modeler and illustrator Kow Yokoyama. It is set in the distant future and its machines are designed in modeling terms: technically believable shapes, visible rivets, hinges and welds, and above all heavily worn surfaces. That is exactly why Maschinen Krieger is built differently from ordinary science fiction; a clean, smoothly painted model looks out of place in the world of Ma.K. The individual machines are fictional, but their technical language comes out of real ground and air hardware of the twentieth century.
Divide the model into logical assemblies and build them separately while they are still accessible from all sides: the body, the powered and load-bearing part, the outer covers and the small equipment. Paint them before joining them, because once they are together you will not reach into the corners. The foundation is a quality primer, over which the opaque shade then goes. The surface is what builds the result: a dot filter for unevenness, a dark wash into the engraved gaps and a worn edge. Do the chipped paint with the salt method or with a varnish under the top coat, never by stippling silver on alone; in 1:35 scale that looks artificial. Run the rust streaks from the top downward, so that they match the way it would run.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
