This item is an accessory, not a kit. It is a basic photo-etched set from Voyager Model in 1:35 scale, cut for the Trumpeter 01046 plastic kit. It is used during the build to replace parts that injection-molded plastic cannot produce at a thickness correct to scale. The scope of the package and the number of frets is not stated here.
The M270 is a tracked rocket launcher built on a chassis derived from an infantry fighting vehicle. At the front it has an armored cab for a crew of three, and at the rear a traversing and elevating launcher with two exchangeable rocket pods, which are loaded by a crane mounted on the vehicle. The M270A1 version received an upgraded fire control system and a faster aiming mechanism. In German service the system is designated by the abbreviation MARS. The vehicle is long and angular, so on a model the flat surfaces and their edges stand out in particular.
On this kind of vehicle you often work with long photo-etched parts, for instance strips, covers and sheet along the hull. Their flatness is the key. Never straighten a sheet with your fingers; lay it on a glass or steel plate and run a smooth roller or the side of a scalpel handle over it. Glue a longer part to the model gradually from one end rather than all at once: apply a drop of cyanoacrylate at the edge, straighten it and only once it has dried carry on. If a part ripples slightly, it can still be pressed down with a wooden stick before the glue dries, without leaving a mark on the brass. A twisted sheet already glued on is straightened only with great difficulty.
The set is an accessory for a plastic kit, which it does not include. The glue, paints and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
