Motorcyclist No.1 is a figure of a motorcyclist in 1:35 scale by the Czech manufacturer Black Dog, meant to complete models and scenes.
Responsibility details are not available.
A figure of a motorcyclist in the most widespread scale of models of ground hardware. The label No.1 in the name places the figure as the first of a pair; the manufacturer also issues a follow-up number and a joint package. The figure is not tied to a particular army or period, which paradoxically widens its use.
Throughout the twentieth century the motorcycle was the quick solution wherever a passenger car would get in the way. Dispatch riders with orders, reconnaissance patrols, the escorting of columns, traffic control at crossroads and civilian traffic on country roads: the machine and the rider appeared together in all of them. Modelers meanwhile tend to have a motorcycle built and put aside, because on its own it comes across as empty in a display case. A figure of a rider solves this problem at a stroke: it gives the machine a point and at the same time a scale that the viewer reads immediately.
Figures in the saddle call for a seating verified dry. Before painting, offer the figure up to the machine repeatedly and look for where the footing of the legs or the angle of the arms needs adjusting; once painted, that is hard to put right. The leather of a jacket and pants looks good when you add a fine gloss on the edges to the base shade. Dust on the boots and the calves is the detail that joins the figure to the ground and prevents the impression that the rider is hovering above the surface.
