A kit of a special version of the OT-64 armored personnel carrier, which the manufacturer marks with the suffix DTP, in 1:35 scale. The Armour Models brand concentrates on hardware that does not appear in large production runs, so it is a subject for collectors with an interest in less usual machines. The material of the parts, their number and the contents of the package are stated on the box.
The OT-64 came about as a joint Czechoslovak and Polish program for an armored personnel carrier on an 8x8 chassis. It was powered by an air-cooled Tatra diesel engine and the vehicle was amphibious, so it crossed water obstacles without preparation. Series production ran from the 1960s and besides the two home armies a number of foreign operators acquired the machine. A whole family of derived versions for command, communications, medical and technical duties grew on the single chassis; the suffix in the name pins down one of them.
On an eight-wheeled chassis, line all the axles up dry on a flat board before you join anything permanently, otherwise the model stands on only some of its wheels. Finish the running gear and the interior fittings before you close up the hull; after that you will not reach them. A uniform green finish is brought to life by lightening the large areas and a darker wash into the engraved seams; dust pigments applied dry then look good on the fenders and in the wheel arches.
The kit comes unassembled and without a finish. You will not find paints, glue or other accessories in the package.
