Irregular discs of the German 1946 scheme, 1:35 scale play out circles of several sizes side by side on the armor of smaller tracked vehicles.
Responsibility details are not available.
The second form of the German disc scheme mixes circles of several sizes, from small dots to prominent wheels. The result comes across as less mechanical than a regular grid and copes better when two surfaces meet at a sharp angle.
The difference lies neither in the color nor in the subject, but exclusively in the layout. Unequal diameters break up the rhythm, so the eye finds no regular pattern on the armor and the silhouette is harder to judge - which is exactly what a disruptive scheme was about. Smaller rings also make it possible to reach into places where a large disc will not fit: onto hatches, onto turret extensions and onto narrow side plates. For a model that means two neighboring surfaces never repeat the same rhythm.
It pays to spread the film out dry first and work out where the largest circles will lie; taking it off and repositioning it is possible only to a limited extent. Press the smaller shapes down with a fingernail around the whole perimeter, above all across engraved lines, where the paint likes to creep under most. Spray from the lightest shade to the darker and give the film time between layers, so that the material does not lift.
Paints, varnish and a kit are not included; the set contains only cut films.
