An accessory, not a kit of the gun. According to the name it contains both the barrel and the breech, so you replace the whole most conspicuous part of the weapon with one assembly. The turned barrel has a circular cross section along its whole length and a smooth muzzle, so there is no cleaning up of the mold seam, which on an injection-molded part always costs the shape a little.
What sets this version apart: it carries the mid type of muzzle brake. The manufacturer also makes a version with the early muzzle brake, so choose according to the particular weapon and your photographic reference.
The PaK 40 was a German anti-tank gun of 75 mm caliber from the Second World War. It was deployed in towed form on a splayed carriage and as the armament of self-propelled chassis. The design of the muzzle brake went through several changes during production and today it is among the most reliable features by which an example in a period photograph can be assigned to a production period.
Before you start gluing, try the part dry in the cradle of the carriage and correct any difference on the plastic, not on the barrel. Degrease the surface and apply a primer. It pays to set the barrel apart from the rest of the carriage with a slight shift in shade and a restrained metallic sheen, pick out the muzzle with a dark shade and dust the surroundings lightly with pigment.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
