A plastic kit of the American PBR river patrol boat (Patrol Boat River) from Tamiya in 1:35 scale. The model is renowned for the excellent accuracy of its parts and for its rich contents: it includes a detailed deck, the armament, crew figures and a display base. The finished boat measures around 28 cm.
The PBR was a small but heavily armed patrol boat with a fiberglass hull that became an icon of the US Navy deployment in the Mekong Delta during the Vietnam War. It was powered by two diesel engines with water jet propulsion, so it could move even in shallow river arms. It carried twin heavy machine guns, further machine guns and a grenade launcher.
First finish the interior and the deck, and only then close the hull up. Use liquid cement for plastic and fine airbrush coats in shades of olive and gray. A wash and drybrushing will bring the figures and the armament to life, and pigments (mud, dust) will support the weathering. Stand the boat on the display base included, or set it into a river diorama.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
