A plastic kit of the Chinese ZTQ-15 light tank in 1:35 scale. Contemporary vehicles are still less common in collections than the machines of the Second World War, so this model tends to be a welcome change in a display case, and thanks to the striking shapes of the turret and the add-on armor it is rewarding in a photograph too.
The ZTQ-15 is a light tank of the Chinese army brought into service in recent years. It was created for use where main battle tanks run into their weight limits: in the mountains, at high altitude and in terrain with limited bridge capacity. Against a main battle tank it is considerably lighter and more mobile, yet it carries a 105 mm gun, a modern fire control system and modular add-on armor. The silhouette is tall and angular, with prominent blocks of armor on the turret and slat armor at the rear.
Finish the chassis and the running gear before closing the hull up, and fit the tracks only after the lower part has been painted. Contemporary Chinese vehicles use a three-color camouflage; with an airbrush you will manage it in soft transitions, with masking putty in hard edges instead, so decide in advance, because the two approaches look different. Paint the add-on armor blocks and the slat armor separately and glue them on at the end, otherwise you will not reach the surfaces beneath them. Keep the weathering restrained: modern machines tend to be maintained, so light dust and accented edges are enough.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
