1:35 Printed Accessories: Granite brown Floor Nr.8

A brown granite floor for a 1:35 diorama

The set 1:35 Printed Accessories: Granite brown Floor Nr.8 closes the numbered sub-range of floors in the range of printed RT-Diorama accessories. It bears a subject of brown granite in 1:35 scale and serves as the flat ground of an interior. It is not a kit and not a model but an accessory with which the floor of a scene already built is finished.

The most versatile stone of the sub-range

Brown granite is the easiest of the whole sub-range to live with in color. It has neither the contrast of black marble nor the saturation of red granite, so it can be used practically anywhere without taking a scene over. That makes it a good choice where the equipment or the figures are meant to be the main theme and the floor is only to fill the space believably. An earthy shade also blends with dust and rubble, which is an advantage in wreckage - a layer of dirt on it creates no sharp division of color and the transition between the clean and the fouled part of the floor looks natural.

Usage tips

• Fix the area to a flat stiff board and put it against it dry before cutting.
• An earthy shade takes more dust than light stones, but add it in layers all the same.
• Run the transition between the clean and the fouled part softly; a sharp boundary gives away that it is an effect.
• Leave the drawing of the stone visible; a thick layer of pigment will cover it completely.
• Run the cut along a joint and darken the light edge around the perimeter.

Who the set is for

• For builders of interior dioramas and sections through buildings in 1:35 scale.
• For modelers who want a neutral floor with no character of its own.
• For scenes in wreckage, where the floor blends with dust and rubble.
