Quickwheel 1:35 - painting masks for the Pz. II and Marder II are self-adhesive masks for painting the road wheels, cut for Tamiya kits.
Responsibility details are not available.
Self-adhesive painting masks in 1:35 scale from Quickwheel. They serve to separate the colors on the road wheels, where the metal hub meets the rubber tire, and are cut for kits from Tamiya. The target kit matters here: masks for the same vehicles are made for models from other manufacturers too, and the dimensions of the wheels differ between them. It is neither a model nor decals but an aid for painting.
The Pz. II was a light tank with running gear on small wheels, from which the Marder II tank destroyer on the same chassis also came. Both vehicles have wheels with a pronounced tire, on which the paint divides differently than on the hub - and it is this transition that shows most on a finished model. Brush strokes by hand around the rim of a wheel tend to be uneven, so a template evens the result out.
Spray the wheels in the shade of the tire first, let them dry thoroughly and only then stick the template on; press the mask down all the way around, so that the paint does not run underneath. The shade of the hub follows, ideally in thin coats - a heavy coat builds a step on the edge of the mask. Take the template off while the paint is freshly dry, with tweezers and at a shallow angle. The running gear is best finished before the hull is closed up, and mud and dust weathering dealt with after assembly with washes and pigments.
The set holds painting masks. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
