This is an accessory part, not a vehicle model. It replaces the gun mantlet with a part that also carries a canvas cover. On the real vehicle this closed the gap between the barrel and the turret face, so that rain, dust and splinters could not get inside. For a modeler it is a rewarding feature for two reasons at once. First, it is soft cloth with natural folds, the exact opposite of the rigid armor around it, which gives the whole a lift. Second, canvas weathered differently from metal: it was faded, dirtied and differently glossy, so it offers a different surface on which painting skill can show. The part is made for the G, H and J versions.

Usage tips

• First wash the part in lukewarm water with detergent; that removes the mold release residue.
• Cut off the casting block with a saw and true the mating surface with a file.
• Try the fit into the turret dry, and only then glue it.
• Bond with super glue and apply a primer before painting.
• Paint the canvas in a more faded and flatter shade than the armor around it.

Who it is for

The set is for modelers of German Second World War vehicles who are finishing off the turret and want a feature on the model made of something other than metal. Working with resin is not difficult, but it differs from plastic.
