A photo-etched detail set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard intended for the model of the German medium tank Pz.Kpfw.V Panther in the Ausf.G version in 1:35 scale. On tanks, sets of this kind concentrate on elements that in reality are made of thin sheet or wire and cannot be produced in plastic in a matching thickness. It is not a kit but an accessory that is fitted to the base model.
The Panther was a German medium tank of the Second World War, marked out by the sloped armor of the hull, a long gun barrel and running gear with interleaved road wheels. The Ausf.G version was the last variant in series production and differed from the earlier forms above all in the revised shape of the hull sides and in a number of production simplifications. Telling the versions apart matters to a modeler, because accessories for the individual forms are not interchangeable.
Work from the running gear and the lower hull upwards, because once the superstructure is finished they are hard to reach. Separate the photo-etched parts with a scalpel on a hard surface and bend them in a bending tool; on long straight parts the bend is hard to keep straight without one. It is bonded with super glue, and with epoxy on large areas. Degrease the metal before painting and lay down a primer. The surface of a tank benefits from a layered approach, that is a base shade, a filter, a wash in the recesses and finally dust and mud effects with pigments on the lower areas. It is precisely on the thin photo-etched parts that it shows when pigment clings where dirt would really collect.
This is an accessory, not a kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
