An injection molded plastic kit of the T-80BVM main battle tank in 1:35 scale from the manufacturer Trumpeter. The set captures the upgraded version of the T-80 tank with its characteristic make-up of armor, additional explosive reactive armor and a gas turbine. The package contains injection molded plastic and photo-etched parts; the model is built as an unassembled kit.
The T-80BVM is a deep upgrade of the Soviet T-80BV tank, presented publicly in the second half of the 2010s. It differs from the basic version above all in a new set of explosive reactive armor of the Relikt type, an improved sighting and fire control system and an upgraded powerplant with a gas turbine, which gives the tank a high power-to-weight ratio. The vehicle serves with the Russian ground forces as a capable firepower platform.
With vehicles of this type it pays to assemble and paint the running gear and the lower hull before you close the upper parts up. The individual track links and the wheels need careful cleaning up. For a realistic appearance use an airbrush, a primer, then washes into the recesses and pigments for dust and mud effects on the running gear and the sides.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
