Wheels with the common Continental off-road design for models of the light Sd.Kfz. 250 armored personnel carrier from Takom kits, 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Sd.Kfz. 250 grew out of the chassis of the light Demag tractor, and from 1941 the Wehrmacht made it into a small armored vehicle for reconnaissance and signals tasks. It was shorter, nimbler and cheaper than its better known big brother, and the armored hull gave it protection against shell splinters and infantry fire. The reconnaissance detachments of the panzer divisions liked it precisely for its dimensions, because with it one could get into villages and onto roads where larger machines turned only with difficulty.
The wheels on the front of the vehicle carried ordinary tires, and most often an off-road design from the production of the Continental company was on them. That is exactly what this set offers, and in a rendering prepared for the kits of the brand that introduced a model of this carrier into its range relatively recently. Anyone building from this box gets parts that there is no need to alter and adapt, which with wheels that have a pronounced tread design saves a great deal of work with sandpaper.
Reconnaissance vehicles drove a great deal and off the roads, so the tires on a model should not look new. Choose the dusting according to the setting you are building, and do not forget the thin layer of mud in the transition between the tire and the fender. It is just this detail that makes the greatest impression on photographs of light armored vehicles.
