It is not a kit of the vehicle, but an accessory for which you need the matching base model. Photo-etched sheet makes it possible to produce parts that cannot be molded in injection plastic at a realistic thickness because of the technology. These are typically thin sheet metal sections, grilles, brackets and small fittings, where injection-molded plastic looks needlessly coarse compared with the real subject. The result is a crisper and more faithful model that stands up even to a close look or a photograph.
The Nashorn, with the official designation Sd.Kfz.164, was a German tank destroyer built on a common chassis derived from the Panzer III and Panzer IV tanks. It carried a long-barreled 88 mm antitank gun mounted in an open armored superstructure, which gave it exceptional penetrating power but minimal protection for the crew. It entered service in 1943, at first under the earlier name Hornisse. It was deployed with independent heavy tank destroyer battalions, where it came into its own mainly at long range.
Cut the parts out with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface rather than with nippers, so that the sheet does not ripple. Bend them in a photo-etch bender or between two razor blades and glue them with super glue; on larger areas the gel variant helps, as it gives you time to fine-tune the position. Degrease the metal before painting and go over it with a good primer, otherwise the paint holds poorly.
